Just out of curiosity, what does everyone generally charge per foot in this economy? I spoke to a competitor at a home show (he has a franchise!) and he was telling me he charges between 9 and 12 dollars per foot, sometimes higher. I thought that was a bit much, but I don't have a huge amount invested like he probably does. I was thinking the $6-8 per foot range seemed more reasonable and more likely to generate sales. I'm near Columbus, Ohio.

Prestige,
It really depends on the area and who you're marketing to. Down here in Florida we have decent climate year round and gives us more timeframe for installs throughout the year. This is why I cannot ask for 9-12 per foot as people look at you crazy! I'm in the $ 4.50 -$ 6.50 area and it works. The reason why the gentlemen you spoke to at the Home Show is charging so much is because your season for these installs is cut short due to your weather conditions. Just adapt to pricing accordingly you will certainly find a solution that will work for you and the prospect.

What do you charge for 24" walkways? I was told that material cost on that is about $6 per foot and that you can charge $15-20 per foot.

Prestige,
Not sure who told you the material cost is 6 per foot to produce a walkway? Whomever it was needs to recalculate their cost of goods. Its minimal just like curbing. A typical $15-$20 per linear foot is ideal To charge your prospects. Walkway installs are pretty profitable and beat forming out the areas with form boards. This process takes several hours but you walk away with healthy profits. Our machines compact These 24inch and 36 inch walkways well. If you need additional info please let me know.
