So generally speaking how much concrete/sand (properly mixed) will go per foot on average. Our local stores don't use 94lb bags. It's 80#. It would be great to know so it's easier to order a job. Thanks for answers in advance.

Hello Darin,
To answer your question regarding the proper mix/ratio of sand to cement for 80 lb bags. I would stick to the standard 4 to 1 ratio. Purchase 4- 2.5 gallon buckets and 2-4 5 gallon buckets and do the following to acheive your desired mix. One 80 lb bag of portland cement will fit into 3.4 two and a half gallon buckets. You will have to open another bag and dump cement to acheive the 4- 2.5 gallon buckets and repeat the process. You will just have to make up the difference by opening another bag everytime. So, If you're mixing 1/4 batches it's 10 gallons of sand to 1- 2.5 gallon bucket of portland cement and if you're mixing half bags at a time it would be 20 gallons of sand to 1- 5 gallon bucket of portland.
Each 80 lb bag will yield you 25-30 feet as oppose to 36-40 per 94lb bag. Regardless your calculations will even out. It maybe a PITA but it's what you have to deal with. Also coloring ratios will not change since you're still utilizing the 4 to 1 ratio.
I hope this helps you figure things out.
