The concrete landscape curb installation process is a very simple one.
First, the area where the concrete landscape curbing or edging will be installed has to be prepared. Ground preparation is very important in achieving a professional looking curb product. A trench, one inch deep and nine inches wide, around the landscaping beds is all that is necessary to accommodate the concrete curbing machine. Ground preparation can be completed using shovels, a sod cutter or trencher.
Second, concrete is prepared in a mortar mixer with sand, cement, fiber and water as the basic ingredients. The consistency of the concrete is very important. The mix must be very dry. Color additives can be added to the concrete curb mixture to customize the beauty of the concrete to match the customer’s home.
After the mixture is ready, the concrete mix is shoveled into the Lil' Bubba® concrete curbing machine and extruded into a professional continuous landscape border.
When the concrete curbing is extruded from the Lil' Bubba® curb machine, the surface of the edging will have some imperfections. Using a specially formed hand trowel, the concrete curbing is quickly smoothed into a beautiful edging.
After the concrete curbing is laid down and smoothed it can be stamped to create patterns using various stamping tools. There are many concrete coloring and stamping techniques that can be done at this time. Control joints are then added to help prevent cracks every three to four feet while the concrete is still wet. These control joints can be hidden in the stamp pattern or tooled for a finished look.
Since there is no form work, no landscape damage and no elaborate set-up, clean-up is minimal.
Ensure that you arrive to install the curb at the agreed time. Do not leave any rubbish and clean up the jobsite completely before leaving.
After Installation We recommend a follow up call four weeks after the curb has been installed. This will give you an opportunity to offer to seal the landscape curbing on a yearly basis to protect and enhance the curbing.
